It's not Toyota it's literally your phone. CarPlay is basically a mirror of your phone so make sure you're on the latest update, your have signal, you aren't covering any sensors

this actually DOES sound like a car issue. CarPlay gets it's compass signal from the car, not your phone (as the car is more accurate), and if this signal is off it could mess up navigation

Toyotas are some of the most reliable cars out there. This seems like a very isolated issue as you don’t see forums of RAV4 owners with this issue. Doesn’t mean all Toyotas are bad or that you shouldn’t get a Toyota. Bring it to your dealer. You may need a software update.
