he loved her so much that when she said this it confirmed that she loved him back just as much and it broke his heart even more that despite all of that he couldnt fix how he was feeling. i dont think he was planning to go or knew he would. he had been holding that sadness for so long he just assumed he would have to live with it. the fact he didn't sing with her. the fact he got so wrapped up in his darkness he left her out to dry alone. the fact she had to get the hotel key from the receptionist because he passed out. and then she didnt even want him to apologize. she covered him in iamatic clay and didn't want him to feel like he needed to say sorry. i think that broke him tenfold. that love and that forgiveness. i think he thought this was the best thing he could do for her. to set her free. and under the strobe lights sophie, now 31, soon to be older than her dad ever got to be, was yelling at him for exactly that reason. grief makes you angry but it also sometimes comes correctly. he was wrong. i would yell at him too. it could've been okay. we could've fixed it. i would've waited. i love you. why did you leave?
