An adult that doesn’t know how to read a clock should be able to learn how to read a clock after a quick explanation from someone. There is no excuse for an adult not to be able to read a clock.

Absolute batshittery. I am equally bamboozled by people who think using the 24 hour clock is some sort of witchcraft… it’s not hard babe, it removes ambiguity as far as I’m concerned 🤷🏻♀️

Yeah my Son is 4, he can read a clock, because I TAUGHT HIM. Some parents forget their job is also to teach their child basic skills, not just leave it to school.

I can’t believe all the mums in the comments saying their kids also can’t read a clock, and justifying it🤯

I work an escape room. I’m forever explaining to people how to read an analog clock. And open a briefcase. And change a radio station….

Hi all, as a primary school teacher we absolutely still teach how to read the time as part of the national curriculum and this is repeated every year until year 6, including Roman numerals. However, most kids don’t retain as well as we did because they are used to iPhones etc

As someone who used to work in education it’s indeed wild but sadly I’m not surprised!

Funny thing: When my mom was suffering from dementia and memory loss (mostly not funny) she lost the ability to read a digital clock but could still tell time on an analog one.

I’m 25, was taught in primary school with those paper clocks with the dials on them, so I know how, but because I hardly ever have to check the time on a real clock, when I do it does take me a second🤣

My 17 and 21 year olds can’t read a clock, they could in primary school 😳 it’s definitely a generational thing, they removed analogue clocks from schools because the kids couldn’t read them 😳 I guess there was a generation that thought the same when people lost the ability to read sundials. The skill becomes redundant when it’s replaced.

when I started school in 1968 I could already tell the time, read and write and do simple maths. That's because my Mum did the responsible thing.

I'm 22, I can read a clock? Who doesn't know how to read a clock? Everyone I know can read a clock, it's taught in primary here, is it not taught in other countries? I'm genuinely confused

I’m around that age too and I remember our English teacher teaching one of the girls in our class in Y11 how to read a clock bc exam hall clocks were still analogue and she’d never been taught
