@jaimebce1: Natural gas or oil seepage being deliberately ignited. In some oil-rich regions, underground pressure forces hydrocarbons, methane, crude oil vapors, or bitumen up through vents, cracks, or drilling outlets, creating dark plumes that look like “smoke geysers.” When a flame is introduced, the escaping gas ignites instantly, producing a towering fire column. These are sometimes lit intentionally for safety, to burn off volatile gases in a controlled way rather than letting them accumulate and explode unpredictably. In other cases, the ignition is done for demonstrations or viral spectacle, though it can be dangerous if unmanaged. The fire continues as long as gas pressure feeds it, turning an invisible hazard into a visible, controlled burn—briefly revealing the raw energy trapped beneath the ground. #NaturalGas #FireFromTheGround #Geology #EnergyBelow
