Spent time in Rio and was just extra aware. Can’t wait to go back some day. It’s an amazing city with great people. My guess is they saw unaware cruise passengers and took advantage.

Sorry but the port area is not a good part of Rio. Go to Ipanema,Leblon, or Barra Tijuca to the south -- will have a safer, more pleasant Rio experience.
