The Otomí peoples are believed to be the oldest inhabitants of central and southern Mexico with theories that they’re descended from the Toltec civilisation. They also invented the embroidery you often see associated with mexicos culture. They were also named some of the most skilled artisans and musicians and the Mexica army had a unit named after them

You forgot the gran chichimeca. The Zacatecos. Caxcanes. Tepecanos. Guchichiles. Tucuexes. Etc. fun fact. These tribes held back the Aztecs from pushing north. They also defeated the Spaniard expeditions. Only assimilating later to Catholicism.

actually… the aztecs did not build teotihuacán 😅, they discovered it… and named them. and they’re not actually “pyramids” and many, many different indigenous people lived there
