my suggestion, wing out the treats. YOUR affection should be all the dog wants when distracted. if your dog only listened when you bribe them with treats or toys, then you should work on bonding with your dog and building trust, so you don't have to rely on those items. treats and toys should be a bonus for the dogs. your affection and praise, when done right and your dog has a strong bond and trust in you, you can develop a strong recall. ( also a very balanced dog as well as a added bonus )
