I'm likely autistic also. I learnt how to communicate as a survival mechanism. It was my one tool to navigate this space that makes little sense to my brain and people that don't see the world the same way that I do. It's so important.

’m on the spectrum and I communicate for a living, it’s a skill that can be developed by many on the spectrum and when you crack it you tend to excel at it. Two in my team of six are on the spectrum and we both earn six figures. Some autistic people will struggle, my twins have global developmental delays, they will probably struggle. I think using language like we struggle to communicate takes away from people who have put in the work to learn how. And yes it may be harder, but I’ve met many typical people who couldn’t hold a conversation to save their life!! Everyone is individual, learn your brain guys it’s not comparable to anyone else. Environment, opportunities, social economic factors and much else all contribute. Please excuse any grammar, it’s late and I can barely see my phone 😂
