Until now, I had only tried Soto Mie as a Pop Mie cup noodle, so I was really curious about the real street food version. While walking around Glodok, I found a Soto Mie stall with many local customers, which made me even more curious. 💰 Soto Mie: IDR 20,000 (≈ $1.30 / ₩1,800) The meal first comes with rice, topped with a little fried garlic and a small bag of crackers. The soup is prepared with mixed meat and offal, and the vendor adds lime juice and several sauces, including sweet soy-based sauces. What makes this dish unique is the noodles. It includes both thin rice noodles and ramen-style noodles in the same bowl. After the first bite, the flavor felt surprisingly familiar. In Korea, there’s a beef soup made with radish, and the taste reminded me a little of that, which was very interesting. You can soak the rice in the soup, or even crumble the crackers into the broth. That’s the local way to eat it. One bowl is very filling. It’s affordable, flavorful, and generous in portion size.
