I love the golden yellow. I try to use it any time I draw Goku but keep the ornage has his darker tones. It makes a cool effect of yellow with an almost orange shine to it

The orange is also mostly seen in the colored manga whenever Goku is in super Saiyan, as the yellow colors make him too yellow

The red from the 80s DB anime came from his limited palette color pages where he did color the dogi red. Then by the 90s it had changed to pure orange in the anime. Which I truly think is caused by the way Toriyama's colors looked when set and scanned. Because by the time he switched to digital inking, you can see the true yellow-ness of the dogi

I love how Japanese has an oddly specific word for everything. In English we say “yellow-orange” or “golden yellow” they have “yamabuki ryou” one specific phrase for the color that doesn’t use the words for orange or yellow

They made Goku’s gi red in Dragonball and then orange in DBZ because Toei didn’t want to pay homage the Chinese, even though Goku was heavily based on Chinese culture
