@laurenrelf_: 5 things I’d never do again on maternity leave ⬇️ If I could rewind to the beginning of my maternity leave, there are so many things I’d do differently. Nothing really prepares you for this stage. Living on maternity pay. Watching prices creep up. Wanting more than just scraping by — while also not wanting to leave your baby for a second. It’s a constant tug-of-war between finances and your heart. So if I were starting maternity leave again, here’s what I wouldn’t do 👇 1️⃣ I wouldn’t assume maternity pay would “somehow work out.” It didn’t. Every month felt like a countdown, and I was always the one saying no. 2️⃣ I wouldn’t keep telling myself “that’s not realistic for me.” I spent so long watching other mums earn from home, convincing myself it was a scam or I wouldn’t be able to do it… I wasted months believing this. 3️⃣ I wouldn’t let self-doubt make decisions for me. There’s never a perfect time. You either start messy, or you stay stuck. 4️⃣ I wouldn’t wait until maternity leave was over to think about money. Going back to work with no plan feels so much heavier. Starting sooner gave me choices, when I do go back I’m able to go back part time. 5️⃣ I wouldn’t underestimate myself. We learn how to care for a tiny human on broken sleep — learning a new skill isn’t the impossible part. I took a chance and it’s allowed me to actually enjoy maternity leave, not stressing about money, without leaving my daughter ✨ No experience. No huge audience. Just a decision to try.
