These people don’t think they’re hurting anyone. They don’t think they’re stealing from anyone. Person to person, they don’t see the world the same way because they’ve never worked hard to build something of their own. They think, “They have more than me, so it doesn’t matter.” But if they worked hard to build a business from nothing—put in the time, money, and sacrifice—and then had employees stealing from them, their thinking would change fast. That’s the difference. Ownership changes perspective. Hard work creates respect. When you build something yourself, you understand the value of what’s being taken.

But if they owned a business and had employees doing the same thing, they’d be furious. Most people never worked for nothing—never built anything from scratch—so they think, “I’m not hurting anyone. They’ve got enough money.” That mindset isn’t smart; it’s short-sighted. If you ever bought a car and rebuilt it yourself—fixed the engine, brakes, suspension, paint, interior—with your own hard-earned money, you’d understand ownership. You’d understand pride. You’d understand value. But most people never put that kind of work into anything, so they don’t respect it. They just take, because they don’t understand what hard work actually costs. Then come the inquiries, court cases, fines, restitution, maybe jail time—and now their family really suffers. And the excuse becomes, “I did it to support my family.” There are other ways. Cut expenses. Cook at home. Thrift shop. Live within your means.
