According to a spokesperson with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the investigation into White Mountain Apache Tribe's Chairman, Kasey Velasquez, has been referred to the U.S. Attorney's Office for federal prosecution. We first reported on the allegations made against Velasquez in July 2025. WMAT is straight up a mess. They (Tribal leaders) care to much about if we know the Apache language and family connections to get a office job. That's why there's so much shady stuff the Tribe gets caught with over the years, and also the reason people are living in a outdated city.
