I don’t think we should really put all gaijin gyarus together when saying “are western gyaru doing it right?” because we already deal with people hating just because we’re japanese. it should be more individual, like “is this gyaru doing it right?”

The only reason “the different looks” are even part of gyaru is that it was a part of rebellion against everyone looking and dressing the same. In school - uniforms, in business - suits and even most of the casual dress was similar but “looks” wasn’t the only thing being rebelled against. The gyarus are louder and some were even a part of gangs. Japanese society is quiet and subdued so gyarus pushed back on everything.
