Mistake number one was to bring a small knife like you said. Do not.

I disagree… wear the shoes that you find comfortable. And a handheld bidet will not clean everything so you’ll end up with itching and discomfort.

Guy holds up the exact model of boots I’ve found to be most comfortable and tells me they are going to be uncomfortable and give me blisters. My Nan, my Merrill Moab 3s have given me zero blisters in the last 5 years and I hike 100s of miles every year, a good bit off trail as well

No you're totally right. Beginner mistake, I should've worn trail runners 😝 some of us don't stop backpacking when there is more than 4" of snow though

No way I’m rolling my ankles miles from help because I wore off road running shoes. Salomon hiking boots have taken me from one end of the Sierra to the other and my feet just ask for more.

boots>trail runners. I have 1000s of miles in 2 different pairs of 5.11 at 8 non zips and they’ve been great.

Carry a water bottle bidet attachment, so you don't have to carry a whole separate bottle for your bidet. I promise you will keep it far enough away, and it's impossible to splash back. Plus the slight tingle from yesturdays electrolye packet is refreshing.

Only use trail runners if you know what you’re doing they have way less support and are much less versatile. Beginners should use hiking boots until they learn what they personally can handle. Boots exist for a reason

I disagree on the shoes. Lightweight hiking boots for me since I roll my ankles easily
