@socialcap: The Roth is great, but if you don’t realize how tax advantaged a taxable account really is, you’ve got some homework. Or just watch this video. #money #wealth #finance #tyler
13 states in the US don’t tax on 401k distributions. Time to move at retirement.

in my first year of retirement, I will sell my 900k portfolio. I will pay 0 tax for my long term capital gain, 90k. then do the roth conversation the next 4 years. this is once in my life 0 tax year. 😅

Sell at a loss and buy back something similar. For example, sell NVDA at a loss and purchase AMD? Thanks

yeah, you're taxed on your 401k, but that's because you don't pay any taxes at all up front. please don't suggest that a brokerage account is more tax efficient than a 401k, either traditional or Roth. even to your inheritance point, you already paid income taxes on that money.

Would you suggest making Roth then contributing extra funds into a taxable brokerage account? Or skip that and go with backdoor IRA if eligible? Too many options out there and want to maximize retirement and funds for heirs.

I am trying to keep this question short and sweet. I am in my early 50's, since the age of 29 I have been fighting Young Onset Parkinson's Disease. I got out of a toxic decade long relationship towards the end of 2025. I changed my POA Medical to my best friend. She is ready to put me in a home, I disagree. She now want to be POA of finance.
I would like to have a separate account that is not connected to my current CU. So I can let her be aware of an account without her having access to my current accounts. I am not planning on leaving anytime soon and I feel I have a lot more living to do.
