The weird part is that our milk doesn’t come in fast intentionally. The baby doesn’t need that much that fast!!

Catherine Smith Bellato :
The bottom line is why do they always try to make moms think their baby needs more milk? It’s a lie and they’re using fear. They’re pushing formula

Mary Rose :
Your milk isn’t in yet because the baby doesn’t need it. In the 60s baby were fed water the first couple days.

This is wild. 😳 Why does a Dr not know the answers to that.

for the new moms out there: your milk doesn’t come in for a few days postpartum. Don’t stress. Keep latching baby any chance you can. Their stomachs are teeny tiny. They are getting everything they need from you. Human Colostrum is a superfood.

PucciLou :
It doesn’t matter what you do, the nurses come in all night long to wake you up, question you when your groggy, make you feel bad about your choices, and install fear so you don’t trust your instincts. Women have been having babies for thousands of years! Majority of the time the human body knows what to do. SYBA nurses! Damn, starting to dislike nurses as much as teachers. This system is bunk.

That’s crazy that they say you’re not making enough milk, I didn’t know that was a thing?! Don’t babies only need a small amount of colostrum the first few days?

I’ve never had a nurse say this in L&D. However, donor breastmilk is donated by various moms to a milk bank. The milk gets mixed together and goes through pasteurization before being divided into individual containers. It helps to essentially further dilute everything.

Makes no sense. Colostrum is enough for the baby until your milk supply really comes in. I’ve never been asked that

I’m not saying you’re making stuff up again, but I have never ever heard of this and I’ve working in hospitals in a long time

I have never in my life! Ridiculous. And the baby usually gets enough colostrum at first.

The correct response is No. Poor mama. The treatment of postpartum mothers is atrocious in hospitals.

Babies stomach is as big as a marble, they don’t need that much food. Sounds like they just wanted the baby to poop so they could get you out of the hospital faster…

Needing donor breastmilk or formula is complete BS. Even if your milk isn’t in yet baby will still eat and excrete just fine.
