Arbnb have resulted in locals not being able to afford decent accomodation. Ethnic cleansing is real in Cape Town. Our culture is being eroded like the klopse parades and keeping us out of accomodation closer to the city

They need to regulate what’s happening with Airbnb, because there are 1000s of perfectly rent-friendly apartments that are being withheld from locals. Something needs to be done because it’s not normal to be expected to pay these exorbitant rent prices.

Rent control is very bad for producing housing. The cities that implement rent control don’t see overall reductions in costs — they see cost reductions only for people who manage to get in the system. Rent control also disincentivises construction. What we really need to to massively increase the supply of houses — the major blocker is that the city is largely zoned R1 (single dwelling). We could massively increase supply by upzoning Higgovale, Vredehoek, Rondebosch, Newlands, Pinelands, Kenilworth, Plumstead for apartments. Genteel xenophobia isn’t the answer.

Cape Town dont even look Like South African Province...totally like a european state...everything is owned by the White folks and internationals ..shocking to see..land owned by whites in the abundance and the poor live in shacks...I also noticed...that the whites will use prime land and develop it and the balance of the land they will say its heritage nature reserve u cant build on it....but there's prime property with whites enjoying the land and that very same nature reserve....sorry to say but I can't see CT being developed for the poor or the no whites....its like living in Europe💯💯💯...from Durban visiting....ppl need to vote wisely to get a fair share of this CT💯💯💯

I think that every cent that SARS/TAX ON property and commercial development be split and start a fund. The land that was taken from the original owners khoi+Xhosa, we need to start on this. Greenpoint, dewaterkant and and and are colour of ppls land. just a thought
