@wildnorthfamily: A year ago, we pulled up to this 120-year-old house sitting on 57 wild acres of Appalachian hills and all we could see was the beauty. The bones of it, the quiet, the promise. When I look back at those first photos now, I wonder how we had the nerve—how we didn’t think we’d find ourselves curled up in the fetal position crying. We saw the hard miles of work waiting on us just beyond that first hopeful glance and we did it anyways. But we had no idea how it would change us, and by God’s grace we didn’t fold up like we might have. Instead, we were met with good neighbors, steady provision, and the kind of help you can’t plan for. This video doesn’t begin to show it all—the land clearing, the long days inside these old walls, the cabins brought back to life, the garden, the off grid set up, the animal shelters, the work that met us every morning without fail. We gave this place our hands, our backs, our prayers, and our days, and every bit of it was worth it. Somewhere along the way, this land remembered what it used to be, and we remembered who we were meant to be here. Now we wake up not braced for disaster, but grateful—for a home with soul, for land that breathes again, for time together as a family, and for the little life we’ll welcome in the new year. This place has truly been restored to its former glory.
