@monstrofarm: The age old question has always been, which is better soil or water for propagation. Instead of arguing, I decided to check for myself. This is how I propagate my Spider Plant in soil: -I start by taking healthy babies from the motherplant. -Plant them in a well-draining mix. -Water thoroughly and place them in bright, indirect light. -Then I water them when the soil is about 20% dry. This is how I propagate in water: -I start by taking healthy babies from the mother plant. -Then cut styrofoam to act as a floating raft. -Place the babies in the styrofoam. -Fill a bowl with water. -Place the babies, in the styrofoam, on the water. -Refresh the water as needed I think both methods produced healthy plants, but what I can say is that the ones in water stuggled a little more with tip burn, even though they both were grown using reverse osmosis water. Which is your favorite? #houseplants #plants #propagation

From experience, a desire for no more spider plant babies is the best propagation method

Bless you for waiting to show us the start, rather than telling us to check back in 4 months!

For me water propagation worked better. I had many fails propagating directly into soil

I've had better luck with water but the hard part for me is transferring the water roots into soil. It can be tricky to keep the plant thriving while soil roots grow. I'm learning soil has to be more chunky & kept moist for a time.

I like to propagate in water that way you see the beauty in roots and leaves.

Eso no es necesario directamente uno pone esos brotes en la tierra y lo mantiene bien húmedo, por lo menos lo riega. Una vez al día automáticamente salen

I put them in soil still attached to the mother plant. Was that wrong? It worked. But now I’m getting grandchildren spider plants! 🤣

Could you show us how to properly move a plant from one pot to another? I need to do this and I’m afraid I will hurt the plant bc I have no clue!

Dirt for woody plants water for green plant. Spider plant babies produce their own roots. You are supposed to wait until the vine connecting them turns yellow or they drop
