It was also a cultural shift in the way people viewed things. Before The Renaissance, religion was a huge part of everyday life. Things just were the way they were because God made it that way, and people weren’t allowed to question it. But during The Renaissance, there were many cultural shifts, especially in questioning. People were now allowed to question things like religion, hierarchies, and science, whereas before it would’ve been seen as an act of sacrilege. Science could now thrive because it was no longer seen as “wrong” to experiment. Intellectuals such as Martin Luther criticized the Church, and because of new inventions like the printing press, could distribute them throughout Europe. You did cover hierarchies, but the Renaissance was such an interesting time in European history because it marked a shift in the way people thought. Through a modern lens the idea of not questioning anything seems mind boggling, but it’s the exact thought process that needed to change to propel Europe into the future.

I absolutely love your videos. It's refreshing to watch such insightful videos. This one was especially interesting as I'm visiting Florence for the first time later this year. That said, Michelangelo sculpted the David statue you showed. Donatello's David is cast in bronze and wearing a hat.
