I find that Owlman is the perfect counter to Batman’s philosophy. I once heard that Batman’s “no kill rule” is indicative of his boundless optimism for the potential of everyone. Everyone deserves a chance to be better and change. Whereas Owlman is the exact opposite. Nothing matters. Everything is pointless

I disagree that Batman and Owlman have the same experience. Specifically because Owlman relies on his exosuit. Batman is used to fighting opponents stronger than himself, especially metahumans, both in Gotham and on the Justice League. He’s built his experience on punching up from the back foot, and having to do it all night while nursing injuries, which is why I tend to think of Bruce’s fighting style as one that relies on efficiency and energy conservation. Owlman on the other hand is reliant on his exosuit to close any power gap on opponents, and I bet he picks and chooses those opponents for when it suits him, so I doubt he’s ever even been on the back foot.

Also, he still didn’t break his no kill rule because he threw the teleporter to Owlman which would have gave him the chance to escape but knew his philosophy wouldn’t have let him and Owlman “chose” to stay and die

i like to think that Owlman's death in choosing not to disarm the bomb goes full circle to debunk his own worldview. his point was that every decision creates an alternate universe where that choice was made, so nothing matters. but BECAUSE every version of him believed nothing mattered, NO version of him chose to disarm the bomb, thus creating no alternate universe. in the end, his choice very much mattered - it was his own nihilism that defeated him
