My interpretation of the ending is that they both won, figuratively at least, and that matters more than the literal since of winning. Zeitsu gives us this quote on how the importance of who you’re competing against matters, how being in first place is just as boring as last place because the view is the same, no one is around you. The conclusion being them side by side really puts this into perspective, and provides such a beautiful insight on competition and motivation.
