It’s definitely also the way you’re brushing it😭 get a different brush those unbrushed are actually amazing you can find them everywhere for super cheap. Detangler if needed but truly you just need to be patient and start from the bottom up

the bottom/ Ends are dead . do not brush top to bottom it's bottom to top , detangler and deep conditioners will do u wonders. also try to keep your hair in a more protective hair style I would braid it if u can.

Bottom to top always don’t do your bottom then go back to the top and make sure your hair is moisturized thoroughly

start at the ends, work your way up. use a different brush. I use a tangle Teezer brush but be mindful the different colors are usually different stiffness in bristles
