He has no parents, no brothers or sisters, no uncles or aunts, and not even distant relatives remain. Today, he is completely alone in the world. Your missing alot of context. There was a military coup our government was overtaken and unalived. Somaliland was more active in standing against this hence why they were heavily targeted. A lot of Somali people who stood up to the dictator was also unalived our local leaders and Islamic leaders were unalived.

You make it sound like the war was about Somalia vs Somaliland, when it was actually about the Siad Barre regime vs the people of Somalia!! There were many political movements, such as SNM (Isaaq), USC (Hawiye), SSDF (Majarteen), and SPM (Ogaden), which fought against the Siad Barre regime. My clan (Majarteen) was the first to oppose the regime, and a large clan cleansing took place in southern Somalia, where the Darood and Rahanweyn clans were targeted and massacred on the streets of Mogadishu. Have you forgotten that over 500,000 people lost their lives, and 2.6 million Somalis were displaced within Somalia? Siad Barre destroyed not only Somaliland, but the entire country. The war was never about a single group, it affected the entire country
