I had an argument with a coworker who was trying to tell the new grads that scabs are needed because who’s going to provide pt care while the nurses strike. When I told her “girl if there were no scabs the hospitals would be forced to come to the table and reach agreements with the nurses or lose hundreds of thousands possibly millions of dollars” and transfer out all the pt and shut down the hospital” she just didn’t get it. she honestly believed she was helping the strike by caring for the patients while the nurses strike. 😳 scabbing is not like covering a nurse while she’s on her lunch 😂

I've got another one. "Leadership" attempting to unduly pressure healthcare workers *not* to press charges for workplace assaults, need to face obstruction/witness tampering/similar charges. If a crime is committed against you at work (be it by a patient, visitor, whoever), that is YOUR decision as the crime victim alone. Your manager doesn't get to throw their weight around... if they try to, there need to be criminal penalties for that.

I worked in a recovery facility and I was told it was against state regulation to have security. We work with people with violent histories (some bonded to the facility). Also told 2 nurses in the building at night with 4 floors and no security is okay

How about normalize nurses being allowed to carry something to protect themselves? Maybe not a pew-pew but taser? Pepper spray?

THANK YOU! I love taking great care of people, but why do people go up in arms when nurses talk about wanting to make more money? As if we are just supposed to pay to go to school, get a degree, obtain a license and work for minimal money? As if we dont have a family and life that we need an income to support? Yet those same people complaining that nurses are “just in the for the money” also have jobs that they need an income to survive, and very rarely are they the ones spending time volunteering? Where is their “calling”? Why are nurses the ones expect to have a “calling” and not a career where we are paid appropriately?
