We had a 15 minute recap thing , just stood in a line , and then all the coaches would line up , and we would have to walk around and handshake 🤝 them , walk to our bags , and then quietly leave

... and some of my athletes were annoyed having to come up with, "What was your favorite thing about practice today?" and a high 5. I also tried to compliment each kid on something they did well that day, even if it was a day of "failure" (missed skills, unfinished assignments). I'd at minimum let them know how hard i saw them trying. l had kids that I knew gymnastics was their only "safe" space and my job was to help build good humans. (We still did well in competition, too, so it's not one or the other)

WAIT THATS NOT NORMAL I WOULD ALWAYS BE Lined up and all the coaches would be in front of us in and the head coach and he would be like oh you have a competition this weekend good luck and then we would a high five and hug all the coaches is that not normal?
