You wanna know why there's no definitive winner in the movie? It's because everybody could've won. One of them could've hit another pr. One of them could've been another Togashi, where if he just participated in this race he will have a renewed contract. One of them might've found joy at the sport after being frustrated about it for way too long. This race is the embodiment of Togashi's "if you ran the 100 meter race faster than anyone, it could solve everything" rule.
