I volunteer for hospice. Patients often wait for someone to arrive or someone to leave to make the transition. I can almost guarantee you she wanted you to rest and not torture yourself as she passed on.

My mom was on palliative care....she was so tired of being sick and incapacitated. The social worker came to talk to us and as we were saying goodbye, she took her last breath while I was preoccupied with him. I miss her so much. I only had 5 years with her...she was my birth mom that I met in person for the first time in 2019. I am so thankful for those years with her.

your mom was waiting for you to leave. my dad was holding on.. he stared at me.. there was 10 people in the room and he looked at me.. i held his hand. i left for a couple minutes, collect myself, i was 14... a few minutes later, he passed. i had a dream a week later.. it was so real. he goes "you and your mom will be okay".. he was waiting, he couldnt bare leaving my side so i had to leave his. at 14, you dont think like that.. but looking back at 29, it was all peace.

I am so sorry for your loss, what a beautiful bond you had with your mom! As an outsider I think she waited till you left to pass. My dad waited until I could say goodbye and was gone half an hour later, he waited till he was alone.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom needed someone to make the hard decision, she entrusted it with you for a reason- because she knew you could do it for her. I think your mom loved spending her final days with you but didn’t want you to have to be there for her final minutes. ❤

As a nurse I see a lot of patients wait to pass until their family! I think it’s because they’re content and know they’ve gotten to say goodbye🩷🩷 this just happened with my grandmother, 30 minutes after we left she passed. What an honor it is to be able to say goodbye🩷 I’m sending love and prayers your way!💕

She was definitely waiting for you to leave… My mom did the same thing… I spent 3 days at her bedside, felt her hand go from warm to cold but she kept holding on til the night I left. Once my sisters and I were home, not even an hour later the hospital called. 😩
