Isn’t it a shame that people need to find “secrets” to get proper treatment. But thank you for helping.

Luke's Mom :
Husband has had chronic pain for years. After his primary retired, a new Dr stepped in. Young, fresh, and full of himself. Every time he came out his meds were cut. I went with him and asked "Where are you seeing improvement? Improvement enough to cut meds? l live with him, and l don't see improvement" That day everything changed. I sat him down and made him listen, instead of him only talking. My husband is a little more comfortable, but if it weren't for me going in, l'm not sure what would have happened with his meds.

Sadly my pain management doctor doesn't let anyone to come in the room with you. That makes me feel uncomfortable and having my husband with me he can remember somethings I don't. He sometimes remembers meds that I have taken and can't take now.

What do you say when a Dr says your too young to be on opioids and that they will make your pain worse?

My last hospital stay they miscounted my chart so many times. Even to say I received a brace bedside that wasn’t ordered. Pain management was supposed to call and set up an appointment and haven’t heard anything from them. It’s ween almost two weeks.

Many "pain" doctors do not allow someone else to come with you in the examination room. 💔

Function loss is incredibly useful fir the doctors and for myself as well. Understanding my own function loss is more helpful than some theoretical number.

If you can, get a copy of your records. Sadly, many make you pay per page as a disincentive since they cant legally deny you your records.
But my primary care doctor was sending me to specialists who asked for records from her. & They were all instantly dismissive. Like I walked in there and some seemed frustrated & ready to brush me off immediately.
It wasn't until a doctor insisted I bring in paper copies of my records that I found out my primary care doctor hadnt been writing my list of symptoms that hadnt changed.
Instead, she picked one at random to put on the chart for why I was there. Since I was dealing with my whole body feeling sick like a very bad flu, I had several symptoms, & it made me look like a complete hypochondriac going in one day for a headache, 2 weeks later for nausea, 2 weeks later because my muscles are sore, etc.
I thought she was doing right by me by sending me to specialists, but she was just brushing me off while sending these people basically written proof I was a hypochondriac along with the referral.

Yes!!!! For two reasons.. it can change the perspective a little for the patient, focusing on what they can look forward to again. Recorded keeping helps both sides!

I’m in pain. I told my husband and daughter I have to go to the hospital. They said we think you need pain management just to bed and rest
