Save this post for your next Mexico trip: 📍Tepic: We flew direct from Calgary to Aeropuerto Internacional de Tepic. @westjet has direct flights! Arrival was smooth, quick and seamless. After arriving, we stayed at the Hotel Fray Junípero Serra. We had amazing room service rooftop dinner on their rooftop garden with panoramic views of the historic downtown plaza and everything that surrounds it. 📍La Peñita: Perhaps the most underrated spot on this itinerary. The people are friendly, live music rings through the streets and it’s much quieter on the beach than other spots 📍Sayulita: We stayed at The Hotel Boutique Siete Lunas and this was a huge highlight of our trip. The rooms have insane views, there’s a chef on hand to make fresh guacamole and anything you want from an entire menu. It’s a 12 minute walk from the jungle into the downtown core, so it was a welcomed oasis away from the business of everyday thriving life in Sayulita. The rooftop infinity pool was absolutely incredible and there’s only 7 rooms so it feels like you’ve got the whole place to yourself most of the time. * Favourite coffee and breakfast in town: Café El Espresso * Favourite food spot in town: Si Señor Sayulita. Biggest coconut shrimp I’ve ever eaten. 10/10 📍Playa Los Muertos: A more secluded beach in between the Hotel Boutique Siete Lunas and downtown Sayulita. Soft sand, ca waters and drinks + snacks from locals on your walk in. Highly recommend if you’re not into surfing and still want the Sayulita beach experience. 📍 Tepic-Compostela Highway: A brand now toll road open that runs through the mountains and shaves a ton of time off of getting around the region. There’s mountain views, seaside views and smooth paved roads. Bring cash! They take cash only. 📍Rincón de Guayabitos: Incredible whale watching! I’ve been whale watching numerous times and I’ve never seen this much activity! Whales were breathing, breaching, waving and showing us their tail fins!
