My thought process for his voice was as follow; 1) he's a man of few words and if one goes for long periods of silence, the voice gradually deepens 2) Owing to his age in the manga, the depth of his voice would not be Madara Uchiha level deep but a level below that. 3) If his nightly ritual of apologies to his victims is done daily, his voice will develop a breathier note to it given how much he whispers and eventually breaks down Given all that, this is the voice I arrived at. Given that the dubs often dont care about accents as was evident with Qin Shi Huang and Shiva, I went with a general American accent for this one.
