I experienced the same working in law as a young woman. As well as labelling us as ‘difficult’, another favourite is ‘can’t take criticism’. I absolutely can accept criticism, but on this occasion I disagreed with the specific criticism I received, and I explained (reasonably, calmly and using evidence) why 🙃

My male manager pulled me in for interrupting too much during conversations. He wants women to sit silent and not a long with everything and not give any opinions of our own. Nothing to do with ‘interrupting’ which I wasn’t.
