During my visit to the Imboni Cooperative in Gikomero, Rwanda, I was deeply moved by the strength, determination, and resilience of the women working together to transform their lives through farming. Many of these remarkable women survived the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. In its aftermath, countless women were left to rebuild their lives, raise their children, and support their families despite unimaginable hardship. For years, they farmed rented, flood-prone land, earning less than a dollar a day. Yet, even in the face of these challenges, they refused to give up. Through the dedicated work of my dear friend gilesduley and the legacyofwarfoundation, these women have gained access to fertile farmland and support to build sustainable, climate-smart farming businesses. In just five years, they have gone from laborers to landowners, increased their incomes fivefold, and helped send more than 90 children back to school. 🌱✨ Their journey is a powerful reminder that when women receive the right opportunities and resources, they can transform not only their own lives but also the future of their families and entire communities. I left Rwanda feeling deeply inspired and grateful for the opportunity to witness such determination firsthand. True progress begins with listening to local communities, investing in their potential, and allowing them to lead their own transformation. 🤍 A little note to my wonderful followers: I’ve noticed that engagement on this account has been quieter lately, but the mission behind these posts remains close to my heart. Every like, comment, share, and thoughtful conversation helps these important stories reach more people. 🌍🕊️ If this story touched you, please leave a ❤️ or share your thoughts below. Let’s keep these stories of courage, hope, and humanity alive. #Rwanda #WomenEmpowerment #Humanitarian #CommunityDevelopment #FoodSecurity
