The first time ever hearing Gymnopédie was on my daughter’s swing when she was a newborn and I’ve always associated with tranquility and love. Watching her sleep as a newborn to that piece just warmed my heart!

On the nature of daylight I discovered through Arrival (probably many) so maybe because of the movie, it sounds like acceptance. Acceptance of good, or bad. But happy to be alive to witness it, even if it hurts.

I found "On the nature of daylight" when my brother died. it was like ALIVE with me, in my sorrow, my grief, feeling every tear, every sob. it literally held my broken hearts pieces and slowly sewed them back together with every note. my eyes...cry every time I hear this, to this day. Over 10 years later.

The first time I heard this song, I imagined sitting in a sunlit meadow, with my son on my lap as a toddler (he’s 11 now). My daughter running in slow motion around us (she’s 14 now). I could feel and smell my son’s blonde hair. I held him to me and kissed his sweet head. Bittersweet isn’t a strong enough word. It makes me sad knowing that I’ll never get to know how the story (of their lives) ends. None of us get to know how any of our story’s end. Like we don’t ever get to read those last few chapters. Ache, yearning, nostalgia, grief, pride (in my children), unconditional love…so many feelings.

I heard "on the nature of daylight" in cinemas while watching Arrival at 12am midnight, we went there after work so all my colleagues are bored to sleep and I am feeling every particle flowing in the theater, couldn't sleep, how could I? not saying the movie changed me but from that moment, I'm no longer the same...
