@love2hvac: As of Today Jan 1 2026 it's illegal to install 410A equipment (exception for some VRF/VRV and package units). The EPA stated enforcement is low priority. Are you concerned with the legality of installing 410A equipment last its deadline? Can you still get 410A equipment locally? Are you for, against or indifferent on moving this specific 410A installation deadline? The American Innovation and Manufacturing act passed by Congress and signed into law by the president December 27 2020 called for a 10% reduction of HFC by 2023, 40% reduction by 2028, 70% reduction by 2033 and 85% reduction 2036. The AIM act lists the EPA as the administrator for this law. To meet those deadlines the EPA outlined regulations to meet the deadlines outlined by this law. Theist is under the EPA transition technology transition rules which is specific to each application and industry. In October the EPA proposed extending the installation deadline and took public comment. This will not allow new equipment to be made but allow existing equipment to be sold. It will take several months for the EPA to make the legal requirements to change the regulation. The EPA said enforcement of this law would be low priority. #hvac #EPA #airconditioning
What about repairs, we can still replace an old r410a condenser for another one?

Very informative thank you sir! Do you think distributors will still sell for tonight equipment? And leave it up to the contractor as to whether or not they want to follow the EPA regulations?
