I think- and this is my perspective. It puts in remembrance to take up your cross daily and die to your sin. The only cross imagery I take issue with is when he’s still on it. But that’s just my take.

Because it represents the whole point of the Old Testament and the fulfillment of the Mosaic law. The blood sacrifice was the requirement for atonement of sin. As a former Mormon now biblical Christian I finally understand this.
