@expedition.ola: First rescue of the new year🐾🫶🏼 We weren’t planning on rescuing another dog, especially not on our way back to the U.S. as we prepare for surgery and healing. But sometimes rescue finds you when you least expect it. We actually pulled over for a different dog. Following her down the street led us to a home, a conversation, and a situation that had grown beyond control. We simply asked if help was needed and she said yes. We said we could take one dog right now to immediately change a life and create a little space and we immediately got to thinking how we could also help the other ones. The mama we had first seen is still nursing a very young litter. This girl was no longer nursing, and she was the one chosen for us to take. We came up with the idea to sponsor spays for the other mamas, connecting her with a nearby vet we trust, and the possibility of coming back for them when we return. For the first time, she could see an end to the cycle in sight. She kept saying we came out of nowhere, a New Year’s miracle. For now, we have this sweet girl. About one year old, not even ten pounds, and already so trusting. A new year. A new beginning💗
