About 7,700 years ago, there was a huge volcano called Mount Mazama.
A massive eruption caused the volcano to collapse in on itself.
This collapse created a giant bowl-shaped depression called a caldera.
Over time, rain and snow filled it with water.
So Crater Lake is NOT a normal lake — it’s literally sitting inside a collapsed volcano.

I think all deep bodies of water either have portals to hell or drain directly into it

Been there, so beautiful but it is kinda scary how there are a few rocks and then it just drops down almost like a cliff, you can see the rocks on the photo and then beyond that is nothing 😭

I 100% agree with you on much of the earth’s water being connected. There are so many stories from indigenous peoples all over the world about water kingdoms and the kinds of entities that live in them, and there are also many stories about diving into these waters, and going through underwater passages or caves and coming out somewhere else. Sometimes it was a right of passage into manhood, and other times it was required for different kinds of shamanistic training. I definitely think there’s something to it all.

It’s crazy because a lot of KOREAN ANIMES include that lake but they don’t name it CRATER LAKE. But definitely always alludes to it!!!!! And they always use that same lore. Demon vs Heavens.

Because it’s not supposed to be any animals in the lake and it’s just supposed to be deep I guess It guess people as false security about the lake and that’s why
