General Raffles" at Borobudur refers to Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the British colonial official credited with "discovering" and clearing the buried temple in 1814, making it known to the world; he served as Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies and his efforts led to its eventual restoration and recognition as the world's largest Buddhist temple and a UNESCO site, though he didn't personally visit it initially, according to New Mandala.

If you visit East Java is very much different from Central Java because we prefer savory and spicy food like in Bali probably is because we’re more near to Bali

Just to correct, Borobudur Temple is not located in Yogyakarta. It's actually in a different province, specifically in Magelang, Central Java. However, it's only about an hour's drive from Yogyakarta, which is why people often think Borobudur is in Yogyakarta. Thank you.

i'd recommend eating at Bale Raos which is right behind the Ngayogyakarta Palace. There you can try some of Jogja's Sultan's (past and present) favorite dishes🤤

you came to jogjakarta on the wrong season. if you come during dry season june - August, you can do a sunrise tour to Borobudur, get up at 5 AM arrive at 6, go straight to the top of the Borobudur temple you'll see a beautiful sunrise, clear sky no clouds, white thick fogs down the hills and village surrounding the temple, it would be perfect to make great photos out of these scenes, excellent combination between the nature's beauty and the majestic temple. the air is still very fresh and cold in the morning between 18-20°C, the temperature will rise up to max 34-36° by 12 noon, will go down gradually at 2 PM, cold breeze will blow until 3PM that'll be the best time to take a day nap, at evening to night the temperature can go as low as 27° ,by dawn it can drop to 18° in some areas. the humidity is very low, the sun is hot but it's dry so you don't sweat alot like in this march.
