#JamesAvery, best known for his role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, passed away at the age of 68 on New Year’s Eve in 2013. He famously portrayed Phillip Banks, the firm yet caring uncle to Will Smith’s character on the popular 1990s sitcom. Following his death, Avery’s manager, Toni Benson, confirmed that he died from complications related to open-heart surgery. The series followed Smith as a street-smart teenager from Philadelphia who moves in with his affluent relatives in Los Angeles. Avery’s character, a Harvard-educated lawyer and former civil rights activist, served as a steady moral guide for Will’s often reckless behavior. Over the years, Avery has become one of several cast members from the beloved show who have since passed away.#fyp #viral - @sacramentourbanmedia916
