El mucocele es una lesión benigna y muy frecuente de la mucosa oral producida por el acúmulo de saliva tras la rotura del conducto excretor de una glándula salival menor, habitualmente por un traumatismo como la mordedura del labio. Se trata en la mayoría de los casos de un fenómeno de extravasación mucosa, en el que la saliva se derrama en el tejido conectivo y queda rodeada de tejido de granulación, sin un verdadero revestimiento epitelial. Es más frecuente en niños y adultos jóvenes. Se localiza sobre todo en la mucosa del labio inferior, aunque también puede aparecer en la mucosa yugal, la cara ventral de la lengua y el suelo de la boca, donde las lesiones grandes se denominan ránulas. Clínicamente es un nódulo blando, fluctuante, indoloro, de pocos milímetros a un centímetro, de superficie lisa, translúcido o azulado, que puede romperse dejando salir un líquido viscoso y volver a llenarse. El diagnóstico es clínico y se confirma con el estudio histológico tras la extirpación. El diagnóstico diferencial incluye el hemangioma, la malformación venosa, el lipoma y los tumores de glándulas salivales menores. El tratamiento consiste en la extirpación quirúrgica de la lesión junto con la glándula afectada, el láser de CO2, la crioterapia o la micromarsupialización. Pat chicken breasts dry and cut into 1-inch cubes 2. Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet over medium heat 3. Add cubed chicken, season lightly with black pepper and a pinch of salt if using, and sauté until lightly browned but not fully cooked, about 4–5 minutes 4. Stir in cumin and turmeric and cook 30 seconds until fragrant 5. Add quick-cook brown rice to the skillet and stir to coat grains with spices and oil 6. Pour in low-sodium chicken broth and mild salsa, stirring to combine and scraping any browned bits from the pan 7. Bring mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is nearly tender 8. Stir in drained black beans and corn, distributing evenly over the rice; place chicken pieces on top, cover, and continue to simmer 5–7 minutes until chicken is cooked through and rice is tender 9. Remove from heat and let sit covered 3–5 minutes to finish steaming 10.
