I’ve been at 3 + ketones and left in an a&e side room with no checks, vomiting repeatedly and ended up doing my insulin myself to try to reverse it :( it’s the most awful feeling being dka

Paramedic here. I’m really, very surprised they didn’t initially check your blood sugars followed by ketones testing! Sounds like treatment may have been delayed due to this ….

back in 2020 I went into DKA, I nearly lost my life on Christmas eve! I was 30 seconds from going into ICU but luckily they got me to come around just in time. I remember all the doctors were prioritising saving me, since that day I've never let my diabetes get so bad. seeing my partner and parents around my bed while constantly passing in and out and the worry on their faces was horrible. my dad said to my mum "I dont think shes coming back home" and that broke me!!!

I am an type 1 diabetic and I have been through a diabetic coma it is a horrible and nasty feeling when sugars play up it is the hardest thing ever

My ex is type 1 and he's a drug addict idk how he's not ended up in your situation if not worse! He's had it since 17 and never managed it well been Muslim you would think he would know better but unfortunately not glad you are ok 💗

Wow this is insane. Just yesterday my grandma’s blood sugar was 27 and we were so worried. Please take care of yourself🥺🥺🥺❤️. They do recommend to eat some cinammon and unsweetened yogurt to bring it down

Diabetes is hard and people always think it’s just from eating too much sugar 😫With ketones I remember if above 3 go to a&e (that’s what the DAFNE course told me) hope ur ok

How come ur blood sugar was so high , I thought if u take insulin it keeps it down well it can go a bit high for any reason but not that bad. I’m still figuring it out. New to it all xx did they say what caused it like an illness infection etc xxx glad ur now well xxx
