@abigail_jay_: DIY retaining soil behind a shed using concrete fence panels. After building gabions, the unretained section started crumbling over time, so we added stacked concrete panels behind the gabions to prevent further soil movement impacting the shed #gabion #DIY #homerenovation
SO glad this happened before the shed was built! 🥰

this may give you some trouble long term. In the US, we would use geofabric and rebar to stabilize the soil. Then install gravel and a French drain allow the water to drain.

Have you got your cat a concrete slab of her own? They really like them, apparently!

I would add some long rods of steel rebar, knocked into the ground on both sides of the concrete panels and then wire them together. Just for extra strength incase the middle cracks and gives way over time.

It’s a perfect solution. You could get a tree in a pot and put it in the gap if you were really bothered. I think it looks fine!

If they are steel re-inforced that's a great solution to your problem.

I live in South Wales, we have A LOT of 100+ Yr old solid stone terraced houses. They are built in the side of mountains and the gardens are very steep. The retaining walls are solid stone and have lasted 100 yrs and will last another 100 yrs so I think this is a brilliant idea....quick, easy, cheapish and looks great 👍

Check I think you may need planning permission if retaining wall is over 2m or you may need to consult a structural engineer to make sure it can handle soil and water pressure loads.
