Duh! It's easier for anyone to walk onto a plane. It's way easier for the elderly and the handicapped to get on the plane versus trying to use a stair master to get onto a plane. Now you know.

Ryanair would disagree about the turnaround time. They use stairs to speed turnaround, as they allow use of two doors and are quicker to deploy.

Hong Kong’s old Kai Tak Airport used stairs even on 747’s due to only a small number of gates with jet bridges available. It was a pretty long climb up the stairs on such planes. No wonder the current airport has all jet bridges at all gates.
