I go cancer in 2020-I also lost my best friend. I feel she thought I was going to pass so she was disconnecting with me to save herself pain. She made all kinds of excuses. I’m better off without her. Big hugs it sucks

that isn't a healthy friendship. 30 years of friendship should make the friendship stronger not worse. if my friend of 30 years told me about their health I wouldn't belittle her and judge her.

A 30-year friend ended our relationship after I was unable to get on the highway to meet her at 5 PM on a Friday. I have chronic fatigue (which I'm sure was related to my cancer diagnosis). It was a shock, but also a relief, because dealing with her controlling behavior has been a bit much. You and I are both better off.

If she was a true friend she would have noticed little things. For a year before my bbf was diagnosed, I noticed little things leading up to a couple of larger confusing things and said to my husband, “something is wrong. I hope to God she doesn’t have dementia”. I also lived 2000 miles away but noticed by phone and when visiting.

I had a very good friend that I was always there for. I hit depression while my mom was very sick and I was trying to find a long term care facility for her, my car and furnace needed to be replaced, I had a large expense to fix the leak in my basement and my ex was giving me a very hard time. I happened to yell while speaking with her, not at her and the rest is history. She decided she could no longer be my friend. I am good now yet still hurt.
