I was young and clueless when I was my sisters moh. I had no clue what my role was but took it upon myself to prevent the rest of the bridal party from getting too drunk to walk down the aisle and, honestly, that’s probably the whole reason my sister wanted me there 🤣

I was asked and am going to be 8 months pregnant the day of the wedding 🫠 we’re sleeping on the ground at a campsite where the wedding will be with an outhouse, no showers and be in full renfaire cosplay the next day for the wedding then sleep on the ground again when the bride and groom get a hotel to clean the entire venue and now I’m being called difficult for showing concern for how bad the logistics of this is

My MOH lived across the country and had very limited resources. I paid for all of her expenses for the wedding and travel. She’s my lifelong best friend so all I cared about was having her by my side. (Another close friend threw my shower (on her dime) but did not attend my wedding (she would have been a bridesmaid). She wanted to be our cat and house sitter instead. Since we were gone for an extended period (and literally everyone knew we were gone) this was a valuable task for her to volunteer to do. And she left us a gift at our house for when we returned. Oh and did i mention she cleaned our kitchen and bathrooms until they sparkled???(she asked first I told her if you really want to lol.) Again A+ friend!)

All I asked of my bridal party is for them to be by my side on a very special day because they are the some of the most important people in my life. I have 3 people standing up with me and all are travelling a few provinces over to come and have children so I just want them with me. That’s all. Each person is different, but the support and love is the most important ❤️

Talk with your friend about what money responsibilities you might have. I paid for everything for my best friend because I wanted her to be there and I knew she couldn’t afford to pay herself.

If someone is asking you to be MOH hopefully they’re close enough to be aware of your financial situation and factoring that into the request.

My maid of honor helped organized a shower. She was with me all day of the wedding day. Also she was there for the rehearsal & dinner. She might have contributed to the shower but i dont think so. She did pay for a shower group bridesmaids gift. And a wedding gift.

I planned my own bachelorette outing, drove all of us there, and I might've even paid for some of the food, I don't remember. but I've always done everything myself. the only thing I really had my MOH do was pay for her own dress and shoes, I paid for my bridesmaids (sister's) jumpsuits, but asked if they could afford their own shoes

I've been a bridesmaid 7 times. I have filled my tank with gas and offered to drive them to Mexico. Fully three of them would have best taken me up on that. They thought I was joking, I just wanted to let them know it was still an option

my MOH came dress shopping with me because my mom lived 10 hrs away and the window was short on ordering something. engaged in Nov, married the next April. she threw my shower and helped decorate the day of. other than signing the marriage license that's all she did. and it's all stuff she WANTED and offered to do.
