In all honesty….. She didn’t lose the folder. Stop making excuses for teachers. She chose not to use the count sheets. I hate when administrators gaslight parents.

As a teacher, the only thing I do on field trips is count. I don’t ever get to enjoy the museum or the zoo or whatever. I just freaking count. That’s it. I even take extra copies of attendance sheets.

As a teacher this is why I HATE field trips! My anxiety level goes through the roof! I am constantly counting my students. I am always on high alert.

no administration would throw a teacher under the bus like this and use language that specifically feeds legal action in front of the parent

would a union allow it to happen like that, though? I feel there would need to be more time and paperwork lol but I agree with the sentiment

Wow! Did you get whiplash from that 180° - that principal should have had a conversation with the teacher away from the parent and informed the parent that the issue had been resolved, even if it meant letting her go.

I took middle schoolers to NYC and all I did was count and check off names of the students as I saw them. I was not about to lose one in the city.

Here are some issues, the reality is while this may in fact result in the teacher’s termination, 1) the principal would never outright tell the parent what the teacher did wrong, 2) the principal does not have the authority to terminate a teacher on the spot in a public school, especially if there is a union involved. So while entertaining, factually incorrect

I remember way back when i was in school ... we all had a SAFE BUDDY when we go out on field trips . so when they call everybody to get on the bus YOUR SAFE BUDDY is to confirm that him/her and their safe buddy are both on the bus .... so even when a teacher goes on the checlist and i notice my safe vuddy is not on the bus IT IS MY DUTY TO CALL OUT AND STATE TO THE TEACGER THAT MY SAFE BUDDY IS NOT HERE YET

As a parent with a seven year old, this sounds like empty words and blame shifting. She could’ve been kidnapped or assaulted VERY easily at that age and no one would even know. She probably doesn’t even have a phone! What if she couldn’t remember her mom’s phone number? This definitely warrants a call to the police and pulling the child from this school

I was close friends with my kids 3rd grade teacher. She was an emergency contact for my kid. She still had me sign my kid out when I needed to sign her out after events. It wasn’t up to her. It was school rules for a reason.

When is son (autistic) was in kindergarten, his teacher decided to have him stand outside (as in outdoors) all by himself and he happened to wonder near the parking lot, and we found out about this from another parent i'm friends with a week later (she was the "room mom") we brought it to the school's attention and we got to that teacher fired, I did not trust him with my son! He always said *techer's name* is always mean to me and no one else. That broke my mama heart so bad

It is extremely bad judgment on the principles part to the teacher. in front of the parent. It shows lack of professionalism. The conversation between the teacher and the principal should have happened. before the parent was there. And if that included letting the teacher go, that should have been what happened. having the teacher there made it very awkward because the teacher felt like they had to defend themselves. now I'm going to take a wild guess that the person in these skits is either a principal or teacher themselves and simply doing skits that they have experienced to, which I say it really scares me that this is how it's done. now if there's going to be a part 8 or 9 in which the principal gets in trouble for the way she handled this then I take back everything I said here
