Natives are not asking for money, if anything they are asking for their old way of life where they were happier. And where there land was there’s. As an islander who asks the same, I would much rather be able to live off the land than having to struggle with a place to stay or even to be able to stay in my own island.

What hurts the most for me is the loss of identity and culture. Colonization stripped dance, skills, language, even our names for some Kanaka. A lot of keiki growing up frustrated not knowing who they are. So much mana'o lost.
