What about preparing a ton of medical record subpoenas (I don’t have a paralegal)? Including looking through ALL discovery to identify providers, researching/calling the providers to find the correct address to send the subpoena, making the hipaa order and motion for entry of the order, the proposed order, calling the clerk to find out if a hearing will be needed, hipaa authorizations for out of state providers who won’t honor the subpoena, drafting and notarizing the subpoenas, [filing everything which I wouldn’t bill for], making cover letters, printing everything out and preparing certified mail with green cards. I recently subpoenaed 20 providers and it took me like 30 hours.

Oh I made it to my side of TikTok. It’s so crazy how one word can cut entries. When I first started, someone told me to use “correspondence” and not “email” because anything over 10-15 minutes will get cut and it’s assumed emails are always quick messages

It’s amazing to me that they cut “scheduling” no matter what it is. Like I’m legit trying to make sure we’re complying with everything the Court is wanting us to do. Do you really not want an attorney checking court deadlines?

Yes I roll research into drafting and I don’t use review either unless it’s a final document like a contract or a settlement proposal

"budget" is also a huge red flag word. We technically can't bill for drafting our budgets. Also, AI has been absolutely amazing the past year when doing audits! Such a time saver on billing.
